MAKASSAR, BKM - During the period January to March 2012, PT. PLN (Persero) region of South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi (Sulselrabar) recorded revenues of Rp 415 billion. Meanwhile, about USD 45 billion is lost due to the rampant theft of electricity. This amount is equivalent to 68 million KWh.

To anticipate the increasing number of theft of electricity, the PLN Sulselrabar Sulselbar police cooperation signed a cooperation agreement. The signing was done at the office of PLN Sulselrabar, Jl Hertasning, Monday (7/5).
General Manager of PLN Sulselrabar, Zulkifli explains, lossis or loss of electrical current occurs mostly in the city of Makassar, which reached 12.3 percent. Problem is dominated by loss of electrical current user customers generally about 90 percent. Conducted through cooperation with the Police, the PLN hoped to be able to reduce the number of cases of theft of electricity decreased by one digit or 7.78 per cent until the end of 2012,
After the signing of this cooperation agreement, said Zulkifli, the PLN can evaluate the extent of the vulnerability of electricity theft. After this socialization, when street hawkers (street vendors) still stubborn to theft of electricity, PLN will be forced to dismantle the power line.
While Police Chief Sulselbar, Mudji Waluyo said, after signing this agreement, the police will respond to things that are harmful violation of state assets. '' PLN had no power, so the police would help. And will provide services that are backing up. Fear no opposition from the offender, causing another criminal act,'' said Mudji Waluyo.
